Music Monday On A Tuesday

Sorry for missing our Music Monday post, but we didn't want to put anything out that was half-assed or half-finished. So yesterday, instead of the normal music recommendations, we put out a new song of our own. Hope you enjoy it!
We've also been working on putting together a new system for reviewing albums, so lets try it out. Music should be shared everyday anyways!

Starting this week, I want to introduce my new system for rating albums. There will be no Five-Mics, Four Stars, or Three Thumbs-Up. Instead, I am simply going to tell you whether or not it's worth your time and money. Oh yeah, and why not pay tribute to the funniest man alive at the same time. Bring Dave Back!
Wack!
This is an album that needs to be purified in the waters of Lake Minnetonka! This CD is known to contain high amounts of cancer-causing and ear drum-bursting sound waves. Proceed at your own risk.
What?
This kind of album will get you crunk every every once in a while, but will only be tolerable in small doses. When you hear it, you'll probably be thinking something along the lines of "Whaaaaat?" Avoid prolonged exposure.
Mmm Mmmm!
Just like Mr. Samuel L. Jackson, this album is going to have some really impressive parts, but also maybe some that are not so memorable. But overall a very solid, high quality album that deserves some recognition. You don't have to buy it, but at least try it!
Crack!
Listening to this album will deliver an intensity of pleasure completely outside the normal range of human experience. Highly addictive in nature, this album will bring you to a wonderful state of consciousness, and the most intense sense of being alive you will ever enjoy, kinda like something else. Just press play.

Curren$y - Pilot Talk
The New Orleans Spitta has paid his dues, put in work, and now it's paying off. He's come a long way as an emcee since his Where Da Cash At days, building an almost cult-like following and getting a couple major co-signs along the way. Off the bat, Wiz Khalifa is notably absent from the guest list, but without a doubt we'll be hearing plenty more from those two. And is it just me, or does Smoke DZA sound like a reincarnation of 'The Blueprint' Jay-Z? Throughout the album, Curren$y adds refreshing rhymes to laid-back production, making this into a very potent project. Who needs a label?

Skip To: Audio Dope II, King Kong, Breakfast, Roasted, Skybourne, The Hangover, The Day, Prioritize, Chilled Coughphee, Life Under The Scope
Skip Through: None. (except for the Snoop Dogg's verse on Seat Change)

Japanese Cartoon - In The Jaws Of The Lords Of Death
It's been almost two years since I first heard the faux British accent (singing over punk rock music) that sounded suspiciously like one Lupe Fiasco.  With all of that confusion out of the way, and with Lupe confirmed as the lead member of the band, the anticipation for this album has been building for some time. Just looking at it as an album it's great, but for the hardcore fans who have been dying to hear this, it may be a letdown. Many of the newer joints seemed to take on a different style than the ones that were previously leaked, mostly a turn for the worse. But overall, decent job for a rapper.

Skip To: JAWS, Heirplanes, Crowd Participation, Firing Squad, ARMY
Skip Through: Beijing, You Are Here, Gasp

Uffie - Sex Dreams & Demin Jeans
Forget about Ke$ha, Uffie has been killing it since back in '05 with her international hit Pop the Glock. Her complex, unconventional fusion of pop, rap, house music and other genres certainly isn't for everyone. She puts it out in the open that she can't sing, and doesn't even consider herself an artist, but if you can accept her music for what it is, you just might enjoy it. Give it a try, and you may soon find yourself singing along.

Skip To: Pop The Glock, Art Of Uff, ADD SUV, MCs Can Kiss, Difficult, Illusion of Love, Hong Kong Garden, Ricky
Skip Through: First Love, Our Song, Brand New Car
Mmm Mmmm!

King FOE & Whygee - Take A Bite Out Of Dispensary Music
No matter who he works with, it seems like Whygee always delivers classic music. With his usual supporting cast of Sunkenstate and Kid Hum nowhere in sight, he puts any doubts about his strength as a solo artist to rest. That being said, King FOE also reminds us why he is still one of the most dangerous emcees in the Box State. Don't let the great artwork and hilarious intro fool you, this is hip-hop at its' grimiest and dirtiest. This EP is just the prelude to the full length 'Dispersary Music' album, but even so it looks like it's going to be the anthem of Colorado until then. [full disclosure: Me & Whygee are good friends.]

Skip To: Smoke Break, Caregiver, Get It, Best Friend, Paranoid, Upside Down
Skip Through: Changes

I'm glad you sent Ke$sha to the corner... It's annoying hearing people say Uffie is just some hipster form of that chick.

I've been listening to about half her album for the past 2 years, gotta get that second half. :P

[sidenote: I'm really digging the rating system]

Definitely. If anything, Ke$ha is a cheap copy of Uffie...

Glad you like the new system... were working on perfecting it!
